Sierra Leone wonder kid, Abdulai Juma Bah has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Golden Boy Award, following his exceptional skill displayed from October 2024 to May 2025.

The award, established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003 and conceived by journalist Massimo Franchi, aims to recognise the most talented young footballers across Europe.

Currently playing as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Lens, on loan from Premier League giants Manchester City, Bah has made significant strides in his career, representing the Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars.

The nomination came as part of a 100-man shortlist unveiled on May 28 during the launch of the new Football Benchmark Index in Solomeo, Italy. This index spotlights the top under-21 players in Europe based on their performances from October 2024 to May 2025. To be eligible for the award, players must be under contract with a European club and born in or after 2005.

The Golden Boy Award has a rich history, with Lamine Yamal, the youngest player to win the accolade, currently leading the rankings.

However, Yamal, who previously won the award in 2024, is ineligible for this year’s nomination.

The winner of the 23rd Golden Boy Award is poised to be announced in December, as the search continues for the most gifted young player in European football.
