Umaru Bangura is a 34year year old Sierra Leonean professional Footballer who plays for Neuchatel Xamax in the Swiss Challenge League and captain for the Sierra
Leone national Leone Stars.

Bangura is popularly dubbed as (Zingalay) back home. He is a Central Defender who had attracted interest from Premier League Side Crystal, but the move failed to materialise

In December 2013, Bangura agreed to move to Dinamo Minsk. He made his League debut for the club on 30th March 2014.

In August 2016, he signed a three year contract with Swiss Club FC Zurich. He made his League debut for the club in a 1-0 over Xamax

As an experienced defender, the Center back is one of the longest serving player of Sierra Leone national male team. His presence has helped qualified the team after 25years of Absence in AFCON.

Bangura was also instrumental in his bid to help Leone Stars to qualify For the 2022 World Cup qualification. However, he missed a crucial penalty against Liberia that thwarts Leone Stars qualification in the group stage of the Qualifiers.

However, as a resilient and patriotic footballer, Bangura has been Manning Leone Stars defence that facilitated the team’s qualification to AFCON.

With huge Confidence, Coach John Kiester has tasked him to be part of the Leone Stars defence in AFCON tournament in Cameroon January.
