AFCONQ: Leone Stars Complete First Training Session in Monrovia
Mohamed Foday Conteh The Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars have completed their first training session ahead of AFCON Qualifying match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The match is due to take place on Sunday evening at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
Sierra Leone will need a win if they can keep their hope alive for qualifying for the finals in Ivory Coast next year.
“We must win this match!
“I respect you and have confidence in you guys.
“On Sunday, please play for your country by winning the match,” Head Coach, John Keister urged the players after the training session.
The Leone Stars team has one of the highest concentrations of home-based players with 14. Keister invited only 11 professionals including captain Steven Caulker and Barnsley’s Idris Kanu.
The Super Eagles are also expected to jet in Liberia on early Saturday afternoon.
A draw will see the Super Eagles progress as they currently have 9 points.
Group leaders, Guinea-Bissau has 10 points after defeating Sao Tome and Principe by a goal to nil.

I wish and pray that, Leone Star will gained victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria, but our player’s will applied more and more efforts on the pitch over the Super Eagles, so that we will gained victory at the end of the match.
I don’t expect much from you guys at the moment , as our return to active and competitive games ( football ) in the country — thanks to president Bio , is about two years ago and we are exposed to much intense matches . Haven said that , I have no doubt that Sierra Leoneans got talent in football and we will soon emerge a side to recon with.
