Leone Stars Step Up Preparations for Zimbabwe AFCON Qualifier With Intensive Gym Session
Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars intensified preparations for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Zimbabwe with a gym session Tuesday morning.
The team’s official social media post showed the players engaged in strength and conditioning work as they continue preparations in Morocco.
Sierra Leone will face Zimbabwe on Thursday, September 24, in Group E of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. GMT at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida.
The fixture will mark the beginning of Sierra Leone’s campaign in a group that also includes the Democratic Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea. CAF confirmed that the top two teams in Group E will qualify for the 2027 tournament.
The AFCON PAMOJA 2027 finals will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with 24 teams set to compete.
With the opening qualifier approaching, the Leone Stars are continuing their physical preparations as they get ready for their first competitive test of the qualifying campaign.
