Minnesota United FC 2 (MNUFC2) has signed Sierra Leone U-20 international midfielder, Momoh Kamara on a one-year loan from Mattia Football Club, effective through December 2025, with an option to buy. Kamara will join the team upon receiving his P-1 Visa.
Minnesotan United Football Club, often shortened to MNUFC, is an American professional soccer club based in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. The club competes in Major League Soccer as a member of the Western Conference.
MNUFC’s Head of Development & Player Pathway, Amos Magee, expressed enthusiasm about the signing, stating, “Momoh is an exciting young player with a natural feel for the game and an ability to create scoring threats against opposing teams. We really look forward to having him join MNUFC2 and we are excited to see him build on his current national team success as he continues to learn and grow as a young player.”
In a statement, Kamara shared his excitement about the move, saying, “I am deeply honored and excited to join MNUFC2 and Minnesota United. This is a dream come true and a huge step forward in my career. I want to thank the club for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I’m ready to give my all for the badge, the fans, and my teammates. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to the team’s success.”
MNUFC’s Chief Soccer Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, praised the recruitment team for their efforts in identifying talent, stating, “Amos Magee along with Hank Stebbins, Logan Kuneck and the rest of the recruitment team have done a great job finding the right mix for future talent by adding Academy players, college signings and now quality young international players such as Momoh Kamara, Troy Putt and Alpha Kabia. With the right coaching and environment, we should be excited about future players coming up through our ranks. This is also a testament to our recruitment team and the global attraction of Minnesota and MNUFC.”
Kamara began his career with Mattia FC, where he played from 2017 to 2022, before a brief stint at Diamond Stars Football Club in 2022-2023. He then played for Leixões SC B in Portugal from 2023 to 2024, returning to Mattia FC before his recent move to MNUFC2.
On the international stage, Kamara has represented Sierra Leone at various youth levels, including U17 and U20, and is currently competing in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside MNUFC2 teammate Alpha Kabia. He has made a significant impact in the tournament, scoring three goals in the group stage, including a hat trick against Egypt on April 30, which has helped his team secure a spot in the Quarterfinals. Fans can follow the remainder of Sierra Leone’s matches in the tournament on CAF TV on YouTube.
At just 19 years old, Kamara has also made appearances for the senior national team, participating in two CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches in March 2025 against Guinea-Bissau and Egypt.
