Former Leone Stars striker and international footballer, Mohamed Kallon has urged Sierra Leoneans to go back home and investment in the domestic leagues.

Kallon was appointed as Ambassador to Leone Stars players for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon. On their group stage, the team played Algeria on 11th January, 2022 which ended goalless draw.

The team also played Ivory Coast which also ended draw with equalizing goal from Musa Tombo and Alhaji Kamara. Leone Stars played Equatorial Guinea on 20th January, 2020 to take them to the semi-final which turned to be opposite. Sierra Leone was defeated by one goal to nil by Equatorial Guinea.

He took to Facebook and sent an inspirational message.

“Thanks to the Technical team and players for putting up a good fight in the biggest tournament in the continent (AFCON)I’m proud of you 👏🏽 🇸🇱💙

We’ve built a good foundation in this years tournament that will lead us to more celebrations.

Leone stars will only get better from this point.

Every Sierra Leonean wanted to see Leone stars progress to the next stage of the competition yesterday… Fans were furiously waiting for immediate success, But the reality is that we must follow the professional due process to achieve our objectives… let’s go back home and invest in our domestic leagues and build more playing facilities around the country for better football development program’s for our players.
