The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to grassroots sports development after attending the 2026 edition of the Tour d’ Lunsar Cycling Festival in Lunsar.
Dr. Abdulai, who led a high-level NSA delegation to the annual event on Sunday, described the festival as a strong example of how community-driven initiatives can advance sports development in Sierra Leone. He noted that the event aligns with the broader development vision of Julius Maada Bio.
Commending the efforts of the festival’s founder and chief organiser, Abdul Karim, popularly known as “Stylish,” Dr. Abdulai said the Tour d’ Lunsar represents a practical model for nurturing talent and promoting cycling nationwide.
“The Tour d’ Lunsar is a clear demonstration of what structured and committed sports development can achieve at the community level,” he stated.
He further emphasised that the NSA remains guided by its statutory mandate to develop, promote, and regulate sports across the country, pledging continued institutional support to ensure the sustainability and growth of the event.
The NSA delegation included directors Steven Keifala, Lamin Sesay, Alie Sesay, and John Emmanuel Ngegba. Dr. Abdulai was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sadiatu Abdulai.
The Tour d’ Lunsar Cycling Festival has grown into one of Sierra Leone’s most recognised sporting events, attracting cyclists and spectators from across the country each year.
