Former Presidential aspirant of Sierra Leone’s oppositon, All People’s Congress Party, Dr Samura Kamara has reacted after Leone Stars lost 1-0; to Equatorial Guinea and failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 round of 16.

Sierra Leone had needed a point to progress , but veteran striker Kei Kamara Saw an 84th minute penalty saved by Jesus Owono, the Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper.

The late missed penalty was harsh on Kamara, the 37-year old who had scored the winner in Sierra Leone last June qualification for the tournament.

The former Norwich City and Middlesbourgh man had expectation to qualify Leone Stars to round of 16 , but Owonu launched himself to his left to claw Kamara’s attempt past the post.

Security officers of the Sierra Leone police are currently securing the house of Kei as a result of the penalty saga in their last AFCON match against Equatorial Guinea. It was reported that furious fans visited  Kamara’s house after the final whistle of the match

Dr Samura commended the team for their bravery and fighting spirit in the competition despite wide criticism from members of the public. Leone Stars are expected back in Freetown this week after bowing out of the competition.
