Sierra Leone international midfielder Abu Dumbuya featured prominently for Saudi First Division side Al-Jeel in their final preseason friendly, helping the club secure a 1–1 draw against Bahrain Premier League side East Raffia Club.

Dumbuya started the match and put in an impressive performance before being substituted in the 80th minute. The midfielder has featured consistently throughout Al-Jeel’s preseason campaign since joining the club, establishing himself as an important part of the squad ahead of the new league season.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joined Al-Jeel earlier this month following a brief spell with Finnish Veikkausliiga club AC Oulu, where he made nine league appearances earlier in 2026.

His regular involvement during preseason has provided an indication of his growing role within the Saudi club as Al-Jeel prepares for the First Division campaign.

Born in Freetown on January 29, 1999, Dumbuya has earned 21 caps for Sierra Leone since making his Leone Stars debut in 2019.

Dumbuya was part of Sierra Leone’s squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and scored his first and only international goal during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, finding the net against Chad in November 2024.

At club level, his career includes winning a national championship with East End Lions in Sierra Leone, as well as a spell with Gençlik Gücü in Northern Cyprus.

With the Saudi First Division season approaching, Dumbuya is expected to bring defensive stability, midfield strength and international experience to Al-Jeel as the club begins its competitive campaign.
