Sierra Leone won the Men’s U18 title at the 2026 CAVB Youth Development Cup in Saly, Senegal, after defeating Ghana 2–0 in the gold-medal match on August 13, 2026.
The young Sierra Leonean team delivered a strong performance in the final to secure the gold medal and complete their campaign as champions of the continental youth beach volleyball competition.
Sierra Leone booked their place in the championship match after overcoming hosts Senegal in the semifinal. They then faced Ghana, which had also enjoyed a strong run throughout the tournament, in the decisive gold-medal contest.
Despite the pressure of playing for the championship, Sierra Leone maintained their composure and produced a convincing 2–0 victory over Ghana.
The result saw Ghana claim the silver medal, while Sierra Leone finished at the top of the podium.
The victory represents a significant achievement for Sierra Leone’s youth volleyball programme and provides further encouragement for the development of beach volleyball in the country.
The CAVB Youth Development Cup also offered young athletes from across Africa an opportunity to gain international competition experience and develop their skills against some of the continent’s emerging talents.
For Sierra Leone, the U18 championship adds another notable achievement to the country’s growing presence in African youth sport and provides a platform for the young players to build toward future continental and international competitions.
