Sierra Leone Under-19 suffered a 49-run defeat to Rwanda Under-19 on Monday, August 10, 2026, in Match 6 of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier in Kigali.
Playing at the RP Kigali College Oval in Rwanda, Sierra Leone fell short of Rwanda’s imposing total after the hosts secured victory in a competitive encounter.
Rwanda won the toss and elected to bat first, eventually posting 302 all out in 48.5 overs to set Sierra Leone a challenging target of 303 runs.
Sierra Leone’s response ended at 253 all out in 50 overs, handing Rwanda a 49-run victory and strengthening the hosts’ position in the qualifying campaign.
Despite the defeat, Ibrahim K. Bangura produced a standout individual performance for Sierra Leone, scoring a brilliant unbeaten 102 off 106 balls. His century included 11 fours and one six, but his effort was not enough to prevent Rwanda from claiming the win.
Rwanda’s disciplined performance with both bat and ball ultimately proved decisive, as Sierra Leone struggled to chase down the target despite Bangura’s impressive century.
The result leaves Sierra Leone needing to regroup and produce stronger performances in its remaining matches as the battle for qualification from the Africa Division 2 tournament continues.
