World football governing body has released its latest ranking for men’s football on Thursday morning.

The latest ranking has seen the Sierra Leone male team dip one places down from 116 to 117.

Sierra Leone, however, is above African neighbours, Angola, Mozambique and The Gambia. The 116 place is now occupied by Central American nation, Guatemala. (Ultram)

The Leone Stars are at present competing in the AFCON sitting at third place with five points after four games.

The Sierra Leone National Team will play group leaders Nigeria in early June this year in Freetown. Leone Stars lost by 2 goals to 1 in the first leg after opening the scoring chart with a strike from Jonathan Morsay.

Only two teams will qualify for the finals in Ivory Coast next year.
