Two times zone-2 champions, Sierra Leone, have been placed in pot three of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations draw to be held in Yaounde on Tuesday August 17, 2021.

The Leone Stars have been placed in a pot that has six times COSAFA Cup Champions Zambabwe and top ratings football nations Gabon, Cape Verde, Mauritania and Guinea Bissau.

This means the Leone Stars would face any of the teams in Pot 1, which has de-fending champions, Algeria, rivals Nigeria, Tunisia, Senegal and hosts na-tion Cameroon.

The grouping of teams into Pots is based on the official FIFA ranking, which Sierra Leone currently sits on 106″ position.

The Leone Stars qualified for AFCON 2022 after finishing second of Group L of the Nations Cup qualifiers, winning one match, drawing four and losing one.

The West Africa nation will be making their third appearance in the competition were they aim to exceed their best performance in the group stage exit.

The draw which will take place at Palas de Congres Hotel in Yaoundé on the Tuesday, 17 August, 2021 will see the 24 participating teams divided into six groups of four.
