Sierra Leone international forward Mohamed Kanu has completed a move to Liberian First Division club NPA Anchors, continuing a recent trend of cross-border player movement between the two West African nations.
Kanu arrives at the Monrovia-based outfit following the conclusion of his loan spell at FC Bea Mountain, where he spent the 2025-2026 LFA First Division season. The striker featured prominently for Bea Mountain during his time there, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Paynesville FC in August 2025 and finding the net again in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Borough FC in October of that same year.
The forward originally joined Bea Mountain on loan from Wilberforce Strikers, a club in the Sierra Leone Premier League. His departure from Bea Mountain was confirmed by the club, which expressed gratitude for his “commitment, professionalism, and valuable contributions” during his tenure.
NPA Anchors, known as the Port Controllers, secured promotion to Liberia’s top flight for the 2026-2027 season after finishing fourth in the second division with 50 points. The club represents the National Port Authority of Liberia and plays its home matches in the capital, Monrovia.
The signing of Kanu adds attacking depth to a squad that has already been active in the transfer market. NPA Anchors recently announced the acquisitions of attacking duo Waika Trueh Jr. from Discoveries FC and Tony Oscar Weah from CECE United. The club’s technical staff is expected to finalise further roster adjustments ahead of the new league campaign.
Kanu, who holds Sierra Leonean citizenship, becomes the latest Sierra Leonean player to feature in the Liberian league, following a path previously taken by several of his compatriots. The 2025-2026 season saw Bea Mountain finish second in the LFA First Division standings with 52 points from 26 matches, recording 15 wins and 7 draws.
NPA Anchors will now look to integrate Kanu into their attacking setup as they prepare for the challenges of top-flight football, aiming to establish themselves as a mainstay in Liberian football’s premier competition.
