The national swimming team, Sierra Dolphins, on Wednesday 15th December 2021 concluded their training session at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE ahead of the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships which have started.

Speaking about the team’s preparedness Head Coach /Team Leader, Sheku Conteh, said that the swimmers are in high spirits for the competition as they are not only training for this major FINA competition but also for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next year.

President of the Sierra Leone Swimming Diving and Water Polo Association, Mohamed Abdul Turay told the athletes to focus on the competitions ahead of them and emphasized that they should take full advantage of the modern facilities at the Etihad Arena, throughout the duration of their stay.

In concluding, he advised the swimmers to use this world Championship as a springboard for the Commonwealth Games to be hosted by Birmingham City next year so that they will make a big impact at the said games.

Awoko reports that the four swimmers will be competing in all the swimming strokes in the 25m swimming pool viz, Joshua J J Wyse – 50m Freestyle and Butterfly events, Isha Kanu – 50m Breast and backstroke events, Mohamed Kamara – 50 and 100m Breaststroke, and Tity Dumbuya – 50 Freestyle and Butterfly events.
