Sierra Leonean Sallieu Bah Fires Zorya Into Top Five With Decisive Penalty
Sierra Leone international Sallieu Bah scored the decisive goal as Zorya Luhansk defeated Epitsentr 1-0 on Monday, moving the Ukrainian side to fifth in the Premier League standings.
Bah converted a penalty in the 55th minute of the Matchday 11 encounter on Nov. 2, securing all three points for Zorya at the Stadion Valeriy Lobanovskyi.
According to the Ukrainian Premier League’s official match report, Zorya earned the penalty after the second half resumed, with Bah calmly converting the opportunity to break the deadlock.
The result lifted Zorya to fifth place with 18 points from 11 matches, while Epitsentr remained 10th with nine points, according to the updated league standings.
However, the match was interrupted by security alerts. The Ukrainian Premier League reported that an air raid alert delayed the start of the second half. Another alert forced both teams to leave the field in the 69th minute before play resumed.
Bah’s goal also extended Epitsentr’s winless run to seven consecutive league matches, comprising two draws and five defeats.
The victory marked another important contribution from the Sierra Leonean midfielder in European football, with his penalty proving decisive in a closely contested league fixture.
