Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) in collaboration with the Head Coach of the South African Male Cricket team, Kenneth Masinga on Friday 10 March 2023, conducted a Seminar for ten (10) Sierra Leonean cricket Coaches in Kingtom Freetown.

According to the report, the arrival of Coach Kenneth Casinga in Freetown is in a bid to improve the high-performance structure and to bring professionalism to the art of cricket coaching in Sierra Leone.

The training was conducted at SLCA Secretariat, at Kingtom Freetown. It is the first professional engagement with coaches since the start of the year 2023.

However, the training brought together coaches, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sheku Alim Cawray and cricket experts like Coach Kenneth Masinga.

Meanwhile, the training aimed to help Sierra Leonean coaches to understand the player selection policy. It would also guide the coaches through strategies that will enhance the good conduct of players.

According to Coach Masinga, the main focus of the training was on improving the Sierra Leone national teams.

He asserted that the objective of the training was to select the strongest and the most balanced squad that would represent Sierra Leone and bring home enviable laurels.

Furthermore, Assistant Coach 2 for the U19 team, Edward George Ngegba, described the training session as a productive one.
He said they have learnt a lot, and if they implement all that was learned, the future of Sierra Leone cricket would be safer.

This training came at a time when the SLCA women’s Patriots are preparing to participate in the Nigeria Women’s T20 Invitational International Tournament coming up later this month in Lagos Nigeria.
