The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has unveiled a 21-man squad of foreign-based players for the National U-20 team, signaling ambitious preparations for upcoming regional or international tournaments.
The list, released on February 10, 2025, by Head Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara, highlights a blend of youth talent spread across clubs in Europe, the United States, and beyond.
England Dominates Squad Composition**
The majority of the selected players ply their trade in England, with representatives from Premier League giants such as Arsenal (Ishmali Kabia and Osman Kamara), Tottenham Hotspurs(Samal Bangura), and West Ham United (Aaron Kamara).
Lower-tier clubs like Charlton, Peterborough, and Barnsley also contribute talent, underscoring the depth of Sierra Leonean prospects in English football
Mustapha Hindolo, an attacking midfielder from Crystal Palace, and David Kalokoh, a winger/striker at Dutch powerhouse Ajax. The squad also features versatile players like Samal Bangura, who covers multiple roles (CDM, FB, WB), and Alpha Turay, a defensive midfielder/center-back based in Serbia’s GFK Dubocica Leskovac.
Beyond England, the roster spans 10 countries, including Denmark (goalkeeper Momodu Wurie Jallohat Brombley), Latvia (Abdul Bangura, Saymah Kamara, and Mohamed Bai Kamra at Metta), and the United States. Striker Kenechi David Walker, who plays for Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia, adds a collegiate dimension to the squad.
The selected players will join local prospects in a rigorous training program aimed at fine-tuning the team’s tactics and cohesion ahead of the tournament.
