The Sierra Leone Football Association’s Finance Committee held its first formal meeting in years on Wednesday as President Babadi Kamara called for stronger financial oversight, transparency and accountability.

Kamara, who chairs the committee, led the Sept. 9 engagement and outlined its responsibilities under Article 41 of the SLFA Statutes, according to the association.

The committee is responsible for reviewing the SLFA’s budget and financial statements prepared by the Finance Department and submitting recommendations to the Executive Committee, Kamara said.

He also emphasised the need for the association to maintain a transparent financial management system and strong audit practices.

“I want us to maintain a clean audit system. This will help preserve our strong compliance record with FIFA, CAF and other partner institutions.”

Kamara said effective financial oversight would help the association maintain its compliance obligations with international football governing bodies and other partners.

Vice Chairman Abdulai Sesay, speaking on behalf of the committee, thanked Kamara and the Executive Committee for their confidence in the members.

Sesay described the appointments as both an honour and a responsibility, pledging that the committee would carry out its duties diligently and contribute to the association’s continued development.

The committee includes Kamara as chairman, Sesay as vice chairman, and George Moore, Matty A. Kamara and Bryan Shyllon as members.

The SLFA said the meeting represents the committee’s first formal gathering in many years, highlighting Kamara’s stated focus on strengthening governance structures and financial management within the association.
