SLFA Clarifies New Leone Stars Coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa’s Salary and Contract
Kanja Sesay The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has released details about the national team’s newly appointed head coach, Didier Gomes Da Rosa, addressing growing public speculation over his salary and contract.
SLFA’s Head of Media and Marketing, Ibrahim Kamara, told Truth Media that reports suggesting the coach earns $25,000 monthly are false.
“We feel so disappointed that some people try to push the narrative saying the new coach is paid 25,000,” Kamara said.
He clarified that former coach Mohamed Kallon was positioned for a monthly salary of $15,000, though no formal long-term contract was ever executed between Kallon and the Football Federation, the National Sports Authority (NSA), or the Ministry of Sports.
Kamara confirmed that Gomes Da Rosa has signed a three-year contract with a clear mandate: to qualify Leone Stars for the African Cup of Nations in 2027.
The coach and all technical staff are paid directly by the Government of Sierra Leone through the NSA and the Ministry of Sports, not by the SLFA.
“Basically, as usual, it is the responsibility of the Government of Sierra Leone to handle financial affairs around the national team,” Kamara said, including coaching salaries, player allowances, and match-day logistics.
