The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Friday, 22nd May 2026, paid its final respects to the late Madam Victoria Conteh with a solemn laying-out ceremony held at the association’s headquarters.

Until her passing, Madam Conteh served as a member of the SLFA Technical Committee, Head Coach of the Sierra Queens, and a former national team player.

She was widely regarded as one of the pioneers of women’s football in Sierra Leone.

Tributes were delivered during the ceremony by representatives from the Technical Department, Female Football Department, Coaches Association, and National Heroes, all acknowledging her immense contribution to the growth of the game.

Delivering the eulogy on behalf of the SLFA, President Babadi Kamara described the moment as a difficult one for football in Sierra Leone, as the country bids farewell to one of its greatest female football icons.

“Madam Victoria Conteh was not only a coach but a passionate Sierra Leonean who always wanted the best for our country’s football,” he said.

He extended heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and the wider football community during this period of mourning.

Also present at the ceremony was SLFA Vice President 1, Mr Alie Badara Tarawallie, who joined the President and other key football stakeholders in signing the book of condolence in honour of the late football legend.
