Steven Caulker has been reportedly appointed as new Leone Stars captain by Coach John Keister for the friendly matches in Turkey.

A member of the technical team of Leone Stars disclosed tp this medium that former Liverpool and Tottenham player Steven Caulker has been appointed as the new captain of Leone Stars.

Leone stars touched down Antalya, Turkey to take on Togo’s Les Éperviers, the Lone Stars of Liberia and the Diables Rouges of Congo Brazzaville.

Coach Keister unveiled the team that is representing Leone Stars where key players like Mohamed Buya Turay, Musa Noah Kamara, Kei Kamara and Umaru Bangura were missing from the list. However, Gaziantep defender Steven Caulker, Bolton Wanderers striker Amadou Bakayoko, Cambuur duo Alex Bangura and Issa Kallon made it to the list.

Meanwhile, Steven Caulker was reportedly appointed as Leone Stars captain in the absence of Umaru Bangura who was the team captain and Kei Kamara who happens to be the assistant captain. Caulker made his first appearance for Sierra Leone in a match in Morocco. His impressive performance in the defends made the Coach Keister to include him in the past Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
