The Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association has on Tuesday 14th February 2023 officially changed its name to Sierra Leone Aquatic Sports, as required by the world Federation FINA.

Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nylenkeh, Deputy Executive Director at the National Sports Authority(NSA) Abdul Rahman Swaray and key stakeholders were in attendance at the Broofields hotelsl in Freetown.

Sherrie Jida-Kiz Kamara, who chaired the program Justified the rebranding as in compliance with the changes at FINA, the world governing body which oversees International Swimming Competition.

FINA recently rebrand itself as World Aquatics, as a result they tow the line to follow best practice by rebranding their name as the Sierra Leone Aquatics.

The President of the Association, Mohamed Abdul Turay also added that the transformation took place as a result of the meeting which they attended last December in Melbourne.

He stated that FINA rebranded itself as World Aquatics and the six disciplines which are swimming, diving, high diving, artistic swimming and all other water sports integrated as World Aquatics.
