Former Maryland Bobcat Sierra Leonean goalkeeper, Sylvanus Parkins has indicated his willingness to be part of the Sierra Leone men’s soccer team (Leone Stars) and defend the colour of Sierra Leone internationally.

In a bid to realize his dream, the former Central Parade shot-stopper is hoping to be contacted by the national team’s handlers ahead of the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers against Nigeria in June.

Parkins, 23, who has represented Sierra Leone as a junior in the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers stated, It will be a great opportunity and honour to put on Sierra Leone colour.

“Getting a national team call up will be a great opportunity and honour, I will be so proud to represent Sierra Leone, it’s just a matter of them showing an interest”. Parkins told MTS.

I always trained every single day and I believe my ability, anytime I received a call-up I will do an excellent job, he added.
Parkins has represented Sierra Leone at Under-17 and Under-20 levels, but his aspiration is always been to represent the senior national team, Leone Stars.

“If the head coach called and showed that he wanted me, why not? my first thing is to make the technical-team amazing, and let everyone know I didn’t come for fun, because I know it competition among ourselves. and it’s good to have competition.

According to Mags Tribune, the experienced goalkeeper was part of Maryland Bobcat’s squad that won the 2021 NISA Challenge Cup.
