Sierra Leone’s National U-17 Male Team, the Sierra Stars, have departed the country for Senegal via Guinea ahead of the WAFU-A U-17 Cup of Nations Qualifying Tournament, scheduled to take place in Dakar from 7-20 September, 2026.

The Sierra Leone team delegation comprises 32 members, including 20 players, eight technical staff and four officials, who will represent Sierra Leone in the regional competition.

Drawn in Group A, the Sierra Stars will have their first match on Monday, 7th September, against The Gambia at 7:00 pm. They will then face hosts Senegal on 10th September at 7:00 pm, before concluding their group-stage campaign against Mauritania on 13th September.

The team carries the hopes and aspirations of football-loving Sierra Leoneans as they seek to make a strong impression in the competition and secure progression to the next stage of the U-17 AFCON qualification pathway.

Additionally, upon arrival in Senegal, the squad is expected to undergo its second Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as part of the mandatory age-verification process ahead of the tournament.

Finally, the Sierra Leone Football Association wishes the Sierra Stars a safe journey and a successful campaign as they proudly represent the nation on the regional stage.
