Waterloo Community Football Club has officially welcomed the decision of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Emergency Disciplinary Committee, which awarded the club a forfeit victory and confirmed their promotion to the Leone Rock Premier League.
In a public notice signed by Secretary General Eric Koroma, Waterloo FC expressed strong support for the committee’s decisive action.
“Waterloo Community Football Club welcomes the outcome of the SLFA Emergency Disciplinary Committee ruling, which upholds the principles of football and rejects all forms of violence in the beautiful game.”
Following the investigation into the match-day disruptions, the SLFA Emergency Disciplinary Committee instituted severe sporting and financial penalties.
The SLFA heavily emphasised that football cannot survive in environments where match officials face threats and intimidation, reaffirming that clubs are strictly liable for the conduct of their staff and supporters. Per tournament regulations, this disciplinary decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Management has issued an urgent call to its fanbase to maintain an atmosphere of sportsmanship and peace as they prepare for the ultimate match of the playoff tournament. Waterloo FC is scheduled to face regional rivals Western United in the SLFA National Men’s Playoff Grand Final at Port Loko Town.
The club is rallying its supporters to turn out in full force to back the team in their pursuit of the playoff championship trophy.
