Wusum Stars Football Club have terminated the contracts of Head Coach Abdul Rahman Turay and his assistant, Mohamed Murray Bangura, following a 1-0 home defeat to FC Kallon at the Wusum Field in Makeni on Saturday, 13th June 2026.

Coach Turay, who was reappointed ahead of the 2025/26 season, leaves the club after overseeing 31 matches. During his tenure, he recorded nine wins, six draws, and 16 defeats, including a Round of 32 FA Cup elimination on penalties to Ram Kamara FC.

According to verified correspondence obtained by NewsFeed Sierra Leone, the club officially terminated the contracts of both coaches 24 minutes before receiving their resignation letters.

Reacting to the development, Turay stated that he had already made his resignation public on social media before formally submitting it to the club.

My resignation was submitted before I noticed the termination letter, as my communication is primarily done via Africell and I paid less attention to my Orange number at that time,” Turay explained.

However, Wusum Stars management maintains that the termination letter was sent to Turay’s Africell number.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that Mohamed Daddy Conteh will take over as interim head coach, assisted by Abu Bakarr Koroma, until the end of the season.
