Former Leone Stars captain and CEO of Sierra Leone Premier League Club FC Kallon, Mohamed Kallon is optimistic about his club securing qualification for the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Cavaliers are due to face Dreams FC of Ghana in the second leg of round 2 of the second preliminary round. The Sierra Leone club lost in Accra by two goals to nil, but the club’s management is optimistic about qualifying when they play the return leg later on Saturday, September 30 at SKD Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia.

“No Sierra Leonean club has reached the group stage of the second-tier competition of African club football since it was introduced in 2004,” Mohamed Kallon said.

He added that a win for his club would be a win for Sierra Leone.

The Cavaliers have a very young team being led by former Leone Stars captain, Umaru ‘Zengalay’ Bangura.

The Sierra Leone club will be playing against Dreams FC without their star striker, Alie Conteh who left the club for Norway at the end of the 2022-23 Sierra Leone Premier League.

In another news, CAF has postponed the CAF Champions League preliminary round match between Bo Rangers against Algerian club CF Belouizdad. The Sierra Leone Premier League champions lost the first leg at home to the Algerian side by three goals to one.
