EU Delegation to Sierra Leone Denies Suspending Budgetary Support Over Election Theft Accusations
Julius Mustapha Harding EU Delegation to Sierra Leone has firmly denied rumors of suspending budgetary support to the country amidst election theft accusations.
In an official statement released to Sierra Leone Association of Journalist (SLAJ), the EU Political Press and Information Officer, Delegation to Sierra Leone, N’fa Alie Koroma clarified that they remain committed to supporting Sierra Leone’s democratic processes and that no such suspension has been considered or implemented.
This comes in response to speculations circulating in local and international media regarding potential repercussions following allegations of election theft in Sierra Leone. The EU Delegation emphasized their stance on respecting the rule of law and due process in addressing any electoral disputes.
The statement further reiterated the EU’s support for the ongoing investigations into the alleged election irregularities and encouraged all parties involved to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve the issue amicably. The EU Political Press and Information Officer, Delegation to Sierra Leone, N’fa Alie Koroma expressed confidence in the country’s democratic institutions and their ability to address any challenges that may arise in a fair and transparent manner.
