Popular APC Lawyer and former Anti-Corruption Commision (ACC) Commissioner, Ady Macauley has claiming the existence of a secretive constitutional review process currently underway.
He made this claim via Twitter (X) urging Sierra Leoneans to remain vigilant and discerning. He warned against complacency, using a metaphorical expression to emphasize the importance of staying alert.
“Shine your eyes Sierra Leone. Constitutional review process is going on steady behind closed doors. You sleep na u wing, u go dip u finger na sardine en smell toffee. A word for the wise!!!” he stated.
Expanding on his concerns, Macauley expressed apprehension regarding potential changes to the country’s political structure. He asserted that Sierra Leoneans are not supportive of monarchies and advocated for maintaining the current presidential term limits of two terms, each lasting five years. He urged leaders not to extend the tenure beyond the established mandate.

“Sierra Leoneans are not interested in monarchies, two-term limit of five years each for the presidency is enough for each leader in the country.”
Macauley’s remarks have ignited discussions regarding the transparency and inclusivity of constitutional reform processes in Sierra Leone, prompting citizens to scrutinize the alleged closed-door proceedings.
