Allegations Rock UNIMTECH Kono Campus: Deputy Registrar Accused of Misconduct
The University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) Kono Campus has become the epicenter of controversy following grave allegations of misconduct against its Deputy Registrar, Moses Ferewa Kamara.
The accusations, levied by Josiah Kondewa, Chairman of the Examinations Committee, include claims of fostering an environment of academic malpractice, corruption, and sexual exploitation.
Speaking at a press briefing, Kondewa accused Kamara of turning the institution into a hub for unethical practices, including grade manipulation, examination malpractice, and coercion of male students into homosexual acts. He alleged that students who refused Kamara’s advances were subjected to academic and administrative retribution.
“Under the leadership of the former Deputy Registrar, UNIMTECH Kono Campus maintained high educational standards. However, since the appointment of Moses Ferewa Kamara, the institution has witnessed a steep decline. The collapse of education is the collapse of a nation,” Kondewa stated, urging immediate intervention from university authorities.
Among the specific allegations are:
Forcing students to pay for grade changes and referencing examinations.
Hiring unqualified staff linked to Kamara for monetary gain.
Dismissing qualified academic staff who opposes his actions.
Manipulating grades submitted by lecturers for personal benefit.
Kondewa emphasized that these practices have tarnished the institution’s credibility, turning it into what he described as “a center of excellence for gay practices and academic malpractice.”
Efforts to address these issues with university leadership have reportedly been met with limited response, prompting calls for urgent action to salvage the institution’s reputation.
In response to the allegations, Kamara declined to comment, citing legal advice. “I have been advised by my lawyer strictly not to have interviews with pressmen in relation to the allegations surrounding me by some lecturers. I cannot respond now,” Kamara stated.
The university administration has yet to release an official statement, but sources indicate that the matter is under review. Stakeholders and the public are keenly watching developments as the credibility of the institution hangs in the balance.
