President Julius Maada Bio, on Friday, July 19, 2025, paid tribute to Dr. Kadi Sesay, former minister and former vice-presidential candidate of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), who passed away in the United Kingdom on Sunday, July 15, 2025.
President Bio, while addressing mourners, stated that Dr. Sesay demise is a great loss to the country, adding that her legacy will always be a source of inspiration. He also stated that her life and example have empowered countless women and shown millions of girls what is possible and what can be achieved.
He described the deceased as a trailblazer, whose story he said is more than just a chapter in the country’s national history, but a cornerstone of our postwar democracy.
He called on Sierra Leoneans to always remember her as a champion for women, thanked her for her service to the country, and asked that her soul rest.
May her soul rest in perfect peace. She was a rock to many girls and women.
