National Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) has officially dispatched on Tuesday, July 22,2025 at three-member delegation to represent the country at the inaugural African School Games in Algiers, Algeria.

The delegation was led by Deputy Chef de Mission, James Faiya, and accompanied by two young athletes, Mabinty Kamara and John Prince Victorious, who will compete in long- and middle-distance track events.

The maiden African school Games, run from July 23 to August 5, 2025, are being hosted by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), in partnership with the Algerian Olympic committee and Algeria’s Ministry of sports. This event is expected to bring together over 3,000 student-athletes from 53 African countries.

According to NOC/CGA-SLE President Prince Vandy Sualley, “though our delegation is small in number, the significance is profound,” he stated.

“These athletes carry not just the national flag, but the helps and dreams of future Olympians and Commonwealth Games participants. Their presence in Algieri’s represents our ongoing commitment to youth development and the Olympic ideals”.

He further stated that, “these young athletes are not just competitors,” he added, “they are ambassadors of our resilience, courage, and national pride. Their journey reflects years of dedication and sacrifice. We salute their courage and are confident they will represent Sierra Leone with honor”.

Their participation serves as significant milestone in Sierra Leone sporting activities.
