A man tragically died of starvation after being abandoned on the streets of Shellmingo in Bo City for three days, prompting outrage among local residents and calls for urgent action.
The man allegedly succumbed to hunger on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after pleading for help.
An eyewitness, Alhaji Momodu Bah Turay, also known as Salone Borbor, disclosed that the deceased approached a security personnel around 10:00 PM on the night of his death.
Turay, who was assisting the security guard, noted that the man was in severe distress, crying out about his stomach pain from not having eaten for several days. “The starvation had made him discomforted,” Turay stated.

In a bid to help, the security personnel asked the man to sit at a nearby location while he went to fetch some water. Upon returning, the security guard found the man lifeless.
As of now, the identity of the deceased remains unknown, with no family members coming forward to identify him.
According to Turay, local shop owners reported the incident to the Bo City Council and the police, but no action has been taken to remove the body from the busy area.

Turay expressed frustration over the lack of response from authorities, stating, “We report to the police station; they asked us to take action. We tried to seek help, but it was unsuccessful.”
He added that the local youths attempted to arrange for a burial but were unable to do so due to financial constraints.
“We are now watching to see what the government will do about this,” Turay concluded, highlighting the community’s concern over the tragic situation.
