On August 18, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, together with the Minister of Higher Education, hosted the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship Certificate Presentation and Farewell Ceremony for awardees.

Ambassador Wang Qing, Minister of Technical and Higher Education Dr. Ramatulai Wurie, and Acting Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Franklyn Brima Fawundu were in attendance.

Ambassador Wang Qing, delivering his speech, reviewed the positive outcomes of China-Sierra Leone educational cooperation and highlighted the numerous advantages of studying in China.

He extended his congratulations to the 121 scholarship recipients, encouraging them to make the most of their time and achieve academic success, aspiring for them to become the backbone of Sierra Leone’s national development and inheritors of the China-Sierra Leone friendship.

Minister Wurie and Acting Director General Mr. Fawundu expressed their gratitude for China’s long-term and substantial support across various fields and spoke highly of the fruitful results of the educational collaboration between Sierra Leone and China.

Representatives of new students conveyed their eagerness to embark on the new academic journey in China and their commitment to continuing the legacy of China-Sierra Leone friendship.

During the event, the Embassy also presented a plaque designating the Sino-Sierra Leone Alumni Association (SISLAA) as the “Home for Participants of Sierra Leone-China Government Human Resources Cooperation Projects”.
