The Parliamentary Committee on Defence, led by Chairman Hon. Alex Mattia Rogers and Deputy Hon. Captain (Rtd) Sylvester Arnold Maxwell Boima, conducted an inspection of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) cashew farm in north-west Sierra Leone on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

The visit aimed to assess the progress of the RSLAF Cashew Project, which seeks to enhance food security and improve the welfare of military personnel while promoting agricultural self-sufficiency within the armed forces.

During the visit, Hon. Rogers expressed the Committee’s concern for the welfare of military personnel, emphasizing the importance of monitoring the farm’s development. Private Mansaray highlighted a significant challenge: the lack of safe drinking water. In response, Hon. Sulaiman Marray Conteh proposed the installation of a borehole to provide a permanent solution to the water issue, facilitating the farm’s operations.

The Committee also visited personnel at the Fourth Infantry Brigade at Tekkoh Barracks in Makeni, the Fifth Infantry Brigade at Gondama Barracks in Bo, and the Second Infantry Brigade in Kenema District.
