The Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has announced an extension of its ongoing teacher recruitment drive, now set to close on September 6, 2025.

The decision comes in response to the initial deadline of August 15, which saw only approximately 55% of the targeted 3,300 teaching positions filled, leaving significant vacancies across schools nationwide.

The extension aims to attract more qualified candidates and bridge the staffing gaps that continue to affect the quality of education in Sierra Leone. Education officials emphasize that the move underscores the government’s commitment to improving school infrastructure and ensuring that every classroom is adequately staffed.

The recruitment effort is part of broader efforts to enhance educational standards and provide quality learning opportunities for Sierra Leone’s youth. The TSC encourages interested applicants to seize this extended deadline to contribute to the country’s educational development.

Teams from TSC Headquarters and NASSIT will be available in the district offices to assist with the process on the following schedule:

Monday, 1st September: Bo, Bombali, Kambia, Tonkolili

Tuesday, 2nd September: Kenema, Port Loko, Kono, Koinadugu

Wednesday, 3rd September: Falaba, Kailahun, Karene, Western Rural

Thursday, 4th September: Western Rural

Friday, 5th September: Bonthe, Moyamba, Pujehun, Western Urban

The TSC urges all eligible teachers to take advantage of this extension to secure placement in schools, either within or outside their current district of residence.
