Sierra Leone’s Justice Ministry has confirmed receipt of an extradition request from the Netherlands for notorious drug fugitive Eolle Jos, marking a significant step in international efforts to apprehend the trafficker.
Speaking in a recent media interview, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, Esq. disclosed that his office has acknowledged the request, adding that a nationwide manhunt has been launched to track down the wanted man.
He assured that due process will be followed and a thorough investigation mounted by the Sierra Leone Police. If arrested and found culpable, Sesay added, the extradition process will be triggered.
Leijddkker has already been sentenced in absentia by a court in the Netherlands to over 30 years in prison. Reports suggest he has been in Sierra Leone since at least early 2023.
He was first allegedly spotted on January 1, 2025, in the president’s hometown of Tihun, Bonthe District, during a church service in the company of the first family.
