The Ministry of Health has convened a workshop on Gender and Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), bringing together university youth groups and media practitioners at the Freetown City Council’s 10th Floor.
The interactive dialogue focused on raising awareness, empowering youth engagement, and amplifying voices through the media to ensure SRHR remains a priority in public discourse.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasized that knowledge is power, noting that when young people are well-informed about SRHR, they are better positioned to make healthier and safer life choices. Participants were also reminded that silence and ignorance around sexual and reproductive health issues only increase risks, particularly among vulnerable groups.

The workshop highlighted the vital role of the media in breaking taboos, promoting open dialogue, and supporting young people in accessing accurate information on SRHR.

This initiative forms part of ongoing national efforts to promote youth empowerment and safeguard public health in Sierra Leone.
