The Sierra Leone National team, Leone Stars, has departed from the shores of Freetown for Monrovia, Liberia, to play a match against Burkina Faso on Wednesday, 8th October 2025.

‘’Leone Stars have departed Freetown for Liberia ahead of their decisive clash with Burkina Faso, at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia.’’ Stated by SLFA.

Furthermore, Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) also added that the encounter against the Burkinabes is a must-win if the Leone Stars are to keep their hopes alive for a second-place finish and a potential playoff spot.

Additionally, after the match on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, against Burkina Faso, Leone Stars will be playing their final game against Djibouti, scheduled for 12th September 2025 at 19:00 GMT. This match will be held at the Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca, Morocco.

SLFA also stated that “With just two group-stage matches remaining, a victory over Burkina Faso would see Sierra Leone draw level on 15 points with the Stallions.”

The qualifiers are seen as a critical moment for Sierra Leonean football, with hopes that the team can build on previous performances and strengthen its bid for a place at the global tournament.
