The heads of Sierra Leone’s security institutions gathered at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) practice field to witness the opening of the Sierra Leone Forces Gala Competition.
The two-day event will bring together teams from the Sierra Leone Police, the Republic of Sierra L eone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the National Fire Force, and the Sierra Leone Correctional Service.
During the opening ceremony, the heads of the various security agencies commended Inspector General of Police (IG) William Fayia Sellu for organizing the competition, describing it as a timely and visionary initiative aimed at strengthening unity and cooperation among the country’s security services.

In his remarks, IG Sellu reflected on his long career in law enforcement, noting that in his over 30 years of service, this was the first time such a joint sporting event had been held among the security sectors. He expressed pride in the collaborative spirit of the competition and announced that a joint outing for all security institutions is planned for November at Sugar Land.
The Forces Gala Competition will showcase teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie among Sierra Leone’s uniformed services, key values that contribute to national peace and security.
The Inter-Forces Football Competition commences on Friday, 17th October 2025, at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy in Kingtom.
The purpose of the tournament is to promote unity, trust, discipline, and effective collaboration among the various security institutions.
