In a decisive move against illegal drug activities, officers attached to the Calaba Town Police Station have arrested a suspect and seized forty-five (45) kilograms of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa during an intelligence-led operation in Hastings.
The operation, conducted at around 11:00 a.m., was spearheaded by the Officer Commanding Calaba Town Police Station, ASP Saccoh Kabbie Kharr, following credible intelligence reports of ongoing drug-related activity in the area.
According to police sources, the raid targeted the residence of Ali Kanu, located at No. 42 Hastings, where officers discovered and confiscated a substantial quantity of dried leaves believed to be Cannabis Sativa.
The exhibits were immediately secured as evidence. The suspect was taken into custody and, along with the seized substances, has been transferred to the Freetown East Regional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
ASP Kharr commended his team for their professionalism and swift response, reaffirming the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to intensifying the fight against narcotics and other forms of criminality across communities.
“This operation demonstrates our ongoing resolve to combat drug trafficking and maintain law and order within our jurisdiction,” ASP Kharr stated. “We will continue to act on credible intelligence to rid our communities of substances that destroy lives and fuel criminal behavior.”

The recent seizure forms part of the Sierra Leone Police’s broader nationwide crackdown on drug-related offenses, which has seen a series of successful raids and arrests in various parts of the country.
Law enforcement officials are urging the public to continue cooperating by sharing information that can help identify and dismantle drug networks operating within their communities.
As investigations continue, authorities have assured the public that the suspect will face due process in accordance with the law.
