Residents in several parts of central Freetown are currently experiencing electricity supply disruptions following a transformer failure affecting the Priscilla Street and the surrounding areas.
According to the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), the fault has been identified and repair work is already underway. Technical teams have been deployed to restore power as quickly as possible.
The outage has affected households and businesses across multiple streets, including:

• Priscilla Street
• Victoria Street
• Edward Street
• Stewart Street
• Part of Berwick Street
• Part of Adelaide Street
• Quy Street
• Andrew Street
• Part of Kroo Town
• Upper West Brook Street
• Richard Street
• Naimbana Street
• Jones Street
• John Street
• Robert Street
• Lewis Street
• Cole Street
EDSA has assured customers that repairs are expected to be completed by Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
In a statement, the Authority expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience.
“We deeply apologize to all our customers and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore electricity supply,” the notice read.
