The main opposition party, the All Peoples Congress (APC), met today with the European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, and members of the EU Delegation to discuss political developments in the country.
The APC delegation, led by acting party chairman Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, held “a frank exchange on the current political developments in Sierra Leone, including the state of implementation of the Tripartite Committee recommendations,” according to a message issued by the EU.
The meeting took place as APC members of Parliament boycotted this morning’s parliamentary session to approve Edmond Sylvester Alpha, the proposed Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
The party provided no information about the outcome of the discussions or any immediate next steps.

The APC has to be very cautious with with any mediation from the international community. Be reminded how they lured you into so-called Tripartite committee and when the government is reneging to fully implement key electoral recommendations they are pinning their lips. This was evident in an Epic Radio interview, when the British High commissioner persistently dodged questions about the UK’s perception about the slow pace of the Tripartite implementation. APC be wise!
APC party is not good for Sierra Leone. In the name of Jesus Christ, apc party will never, ever win elections in Sierra Leone again. Everything is negative for them because they are not in power. Shame on you all. The most puppets party in africa.
But ask yourself the following salient questions: Why is the SLPP so jittery to implement genuine electoral reforms imbeded in the Tripartite recommendations which it signed to? Or are they really afraid that if those democratic electoral reforms take effect, the SLPP would ultimately lose 2028 elections?
