Sierra Leonean musician and women’s empowerment advocate Zainab Sheriff has once again been remanded in custody after the Pademba Road Magistrate Court refused her bail application for the fourth time during the latest hearing of her ongoing criminal case.

Sheriff, who is currently facing charges of alleged incitement and abusive language, appeared before the court as proceedings in the matter continue. Her legal team renewed their application for bail, urging the court to grant her temporary release while the trial progresses.

However, the magistrate maintained the earlier ruling and denied the application, ordering that the musician be returned to the Freetown Female Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

The case has continued to attract widespread public attention since the charges were first brought against the musician, with supporters and members of the public closely following each stage of the court process.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the court adjourned the matter to March 18, 2026, when proceedings are expected to continue as both the prosecution and defense advance their legal arguments.

Sheriff remains in custody while the case continues before the magistrate court.
