Officials from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have held a technical discussion with the National Revenue Authority (NRA) aimed at strengthening the administration and collection of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Sierra Leone.
The engagement followed a recent ECOWAS capacity-building training designed to enhance domestic revenue mobilisation and improve oversight of cross-border e-commerce activities among member states.
The session brought together the Commissioner General of the NRA, Jeneba J. Bangura, along with senior officials from the Authority’s Domestic Tax Department and the Monitoring, Research and Planning Unit. Representatives from the Ministry of Finance also participated in the discussions.
During the meeting, participants examined practical measures to improve GST compliance, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and enhance overall revenue performance.
Leading the NRA delegation, Commissioner General Bangura highlighted key areas where additional technical support from ECOWAS could help further strengthen GST administration in the country.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration aimed at improving tax administration and supporting sustainable domestic revenue generation in Sierra Leone.
