The Leadership, Senior Management, and staff of the Ministry of Finance on Monday, 16th March 2026, honored the Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, for his recent recognition as Africa Government Minister of the Year 2025.
Minister Bangura received the prestigious accolade at the 15th Edition of the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Persons of the Year Awards, held in Accra, Ghana, on 27th February 2026.
Presenting a token of appreciation to the minister, Financial Secretary Matthew Dingie congratulated him on the achievement, noting that the staff and management of the Ministry are proud to be associated with this recognition. “This presentation reflects our collective gratitude for the Minister’s leadership and commitment to driving Sierra Leone’s economic progress,” Dingie remarked.

Responding, Minister Bangura dedicated the award to all staff of the Ministry and the Government of Sierra Leone. He emphasized that the recognition represents the shared efforts of the Ministry’s team in supporting initiatives that have strengthened economic stability and fostered growth.
The ALM Persons of the Year Awards are Africa’s premier public-choice platform, celebrating leaders whose vision, courage, and transformative actions impact the continent’s development. Minister Bangura won the award with 31.42 percent of the total votes, reflecting strong support from across Africa and beyond.
