First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, departed from Freetown International Airport for Libreville, Gabon.

The First Lady is traveling to the Republic of Gabon at the invitation of her counterpart, Her Excellency Zita Oligui Nguema, First Lady of Gabon, to participate in the official launch of the Building Resilience campaign.

The campaign is a strategic continental initiative designed to equip women and girls with the necessary tools to navigate the intersecting crises of climate change and regional conflict.

“I look forward to joining fellow leaders and partners as we advance meaningful action that promotes education, economic empowerment, and lasting solutions for women and girls across Africa,” she stated.

The visit underscores Sierra Leone’s leading role in continental advocacy through OAFLAD, seeking to foster “meaningful action” and sustainable development for the most vulnerable populations across the African continent.
