The United States Embassy in Freetown has extended congratulations to Sierra Leone on its 65th Independence anniversary, reaffirming the enduring relationship between the two countries.
In a statement released on April 27, the Embassy said, “Happy 65th Independence Day to Mama Salone!” as Sierra Leone marked another year of independence since Sierra Leone Independence. The message highlighted the significance of the occasion and emphasized the strong ties between the United States and Sierra Leone.
The Embassy noted that the United States remains committed to its partnership with Sierra Leone, stating that it is “proud to stand with Sierra Leone as we work together to advance shared priorities that benefit both our peoples.”
The statement reflects ongoing diplomatic and development cooperation between the two nations across multiple sectors.
As part of the Independence Day observance, the Embassy also announced a temporary closure of its offices. According to the statement, the Embassy was closed for official business on April 27 in recognition of Sierra Leone’s National Day and will resume normal operations on April 28.
