Swedish authorities are reportedly searching for the relatives and loved ones of a Sierra Leonean woman identified as Janet Botchey, who is said to have passed away in Sweden, according to information released on Monday, May 11, 2026 by Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray, a well-known political figure in Sierra Leone.
The report stated that Janet Botchey was believed to have attended the former Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) during the 1980s before later relocating to Sweden, where she had reportedly been residing for some time.
According to the statement shared by Mansaray, Swedish authorities are now attempting to identify and contact members of her family or close associates before proceeding with further official arrangements related to her death.
“Sadly, reports indicate that she has passed away, and Swedish authorities are now trying to locate her relatives or loved ones before proceeding further,” the statement noted.

The appeal called on members of the public who may recognize Janet Botchey or know any of her relatives to urgently reach out to Swedish authorities or inform her family members to make contact.
The statement further urged the public to widely share the information in order to help locate her relatives and ensure they are informed about the situation.
